Term 1 2010
Teachers' Skills
During Term 1 2010, the facilitator visited all schools to meet the teachers and to survey their knowledge and use of ICTs in classroom programmes. One question asked teachers to self assess their own ICT skills. It is pleasing to see there is a spread of skills. While there are some teachers who regard their skills as limited or fair, they are keen to learn and willing to integrate e-learning.

Teacher Concerns
There are many reasons for teachers not implementing ICTs in class programmes. Teachers are often frustrated with the lack of sound and reliable infrastructure in schools to give their students consistent access. The three main reasons appear to be access, reliability and their own skills. This highlights the need for us to ensure school infrastructure is being continually improved through ICT strategic planning which also includes professional development for teachers
